Welcome Medical School residents and fellows! The Office of Student Health Benefits at the University of Minnesota is pleased to administer health benefits and enrollment for Medical School residents and fellows.

The Office of Student Health Benefits' mission is to meet the unique healthcare needs of the entire student, graduate assistant, and resident population on all University of Minnesota campuses. In our pursuit to empower students with the best healthcare coverage, we coordinate medical, dental, disability, and life insurance benefits for all residents, fellows, and interns.

On this website you'll find more information about the broad range of benefits available to you through the Office of Student Health Benefits. In order to make the most of your coverage, and to be sure that you are aware of deadlines, policies, and procedures that affect you, please review the information carefully.

Open Enrollment

Open enrollment for the 2013-2014 Medical School Resident and Fellows Health Benefits is May 1 to June 15, 2013.

New residents, fellows, and interns, click here for enrollment instructions and forms. Current residents, fellows, and interns, click here for enrollment instructions and forms.

The Office of Student Health Benefits will send open enrollment notices to all residents and fellows in early May. If you have not received your enrollment e-mail message by May 15, 2013, please contact the Office of Student Health Benefits.

New rates, forms and benefits information is available using the quick links to the right.

All eligible residents and fellows must complete the enrollment process by June 15, 2013, or within 14 days of their start date, whichever is later.

Note: Coverage for residents and fellows continuing residencies or fellowships will remain at the same level of benefits elected for the 2012–2013 plan year unless you submit an enrollment/change form by June 15, 2013.
