You have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition, fees, and books—and an incredible amount of time—in your education. Through Guardian you have an opportunity to protect that investment should you become disabled. Included in Guardian’s coverage is the opportunity for School of Dentistry residents and fellows to convert to an individual disability policy that you own and take with you—with no medical underwriting—upon completion of your residency or fellowship. This plan offers benefits of up to $3,000 per month should you become disabled. The University is extremely pleased to offer this one-of-a-kind Guaranteed Standard Issue Plan option. University of Minnesota School of Dentistry residents and fellows have the opportunity to enroll in the Guaranteed Standard Issue Plan six months prior to the completion of your residency or fellowship—regardless of any pre-existing medical conditions. 25-30 percent of residents and fellows would not otherwise qualify for this type of coverage due to pre-existing medical conditions.
