2012-2013 Student Health Benefit Plan

Life is full of the unexpected, so finding the right health care plan for you is essential. The Office of Student Health Benefits offers qualifying students the option to enroll in its Student Health Benefit Plan for students to reach their health goals.

Many students find the University-sponsored plan to be a better value than alternative plans under parents, employers or individual health plan options. Student rates for the Student Health Benefit Plan for 2012-2013 remained steady, while dependent rates went down from the previous year due to negotiations by the Office of Student Health Benefits. Benefits for students on the Plan through the campus health service include:

• 100% coverage for doctors’ office visits for illnesses or injuries;
• 100% coverage for routine preventive care such as eye exams, and cancer screenings;
• 100% coverage for casts and crutches;
• $10 copays for mental health clinic visits; and
• Many other low costs for high-quality services.

Student Health Benefit Plan members also receive valued services at low costs at participating providers in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota network.
